⭐ Why I Ran This Lake
I was in a cutback week and needed to head to Connecticut with my husband for a table read for his next film appearance, Intrigued. Of course, I wasn’t going to go all the way to Connecticut without finding a lake to run!
I’ve also had my eye on Jack Bristol 100K, so getting some miles in around Lake Waramaug gave me another reason to explore the area. I wasn’t looking to turn this into a hard training day—I was in a cutback week—but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get out and run somewhere new.
Lake Waramaug ended up being the perfect combination of a beautiful destination, an easy training run, and a little bit of strategizing for a possible future adventure.
🏃 The Run
Lake Waramaug State Park was a busy place this past weekend! There were plenty of cyclists, walkers, and other runners making their way around the lake.
The run itself was a challenging road loop with plenty of hills. If I do end up running the Jack Bristol 100K, this run gave me a good idea of what that kind of course could feel like. The terrain was very similar to what I experienced at CanLake Ultras, with all of the rolling hills.
