⭐ Why I Ran This Lake
I happened to notice this morning that I had actually mapped out Quaker Lake down in Allegany State Park on my COROS at some point, but for some reason I had never gotten around to running it. Nate offered to take me today, so I figured—why not finally check it off the list?
It ended up being a spontaneous little lake adventure and another one checked off the project.
🏃 The Run
One loop around Quaker Lake!
I was a little nervous going into this one because I wasn’t sure what to expect from the trail section on the northern part of the lake. COROS let me map it out, but Google Maps didn’t show a road. When I got there, there was a sign indicating that the area was closed to traffic. Since I was on foot, I continued along the route and was able to complete it.
🌅 Scenery Notes
The northern section added a little adventure to the loop and was the part I was most curious about going into the run. It was nice to finally see a route I’d mapped out on my COROS but never actually run. Plenty of beautiful mountain and lake views… I even saw a bald eagle in its nest!

🍽️ Post-Run Fuel
After the run, Nate and I stopped at Hide-a-way Restaurant in Steamburg. I had chicken fingers, potato soup, and a sweetart cocktail. A great way to finish another lake adventure.

📝 Notes for Next Time
Another lake that had been sitting on my list finally checked off. Sometimes the best adventures are the spontaneous ones!
