⭐ Why I Ran This Lake
This lake wasn’t originally the destination — Batavia was. We were heading out for an electronics recycling event and decided to turn the trip into a lake day. One of my favorite parts of this project has been discovering places I otherwise might have driven right past.

🏃 The Run
Six laps around DeWitt Lake for a total of 6 miles. The repeated loops made it easy to settle into a relaxed rhythm and notice more of the park with each lap. The route included a mix of surfaces.

🌅 Scenery Notes
DeWitt ended up being a really pleasant surprise. A lovely park with peaceful lake views and opportunity to enjoy the sunshine. There were people out kayaking and enjoying the water, which gave the whole place a relaxed summer feel. One of those parks that quietly exceeds expectations.

🍽️ Post-Run Fuel
Stopped at Miss Batavia Diner for pancakes after the run — exactly the kind of diner stop that pairs well with lake miles.

🗒️ Notes for Next Time
Bring trail running shoes next time. Some of the softer sections and mixed terrain would probably feel better with a little more grip.
