⭐ Why I Ran This Lake
Lake LaSalle sits right in the middle of my old college stomping grounds. My husband has been wanting me to run this lake all winter! Back when I was a student at UB, this was one of the places I’d come to sit and study between classes. Running around it now felt like revisiting a small but meaningful piece of that chapter of life. It also served as a maintenance run following last week’s DNF at Stump Jump — a chance to simply move, reset, and keep the rhythm going.
🏃 The Run
Three laps around the lake totaling 3.7 miles. The route is a combination of paved campus paths and grassy shoreline sections. Recent melting snow made the grassy areas pretty muddy in spots, so footing varied throughout the loop. On the north side of the lake there’s also a short trail section I’d never noticed before. It was overgrown with branches so I had to walk that part, but it was fortunately very brief.
🌅 Scenery Notes
Wide open views across the lake with campus buildings in the background. Early spring conditions meant muddy sections. There’s just something calming about water sitting right in the middle of campus.

🍽️ Post-Run Fuel
Stopped at the campus Starbucks for an iced caramel protein latte — a perfect quick refuel after circling the lake.
🗒️ Notes for Next Time
Most of the route is straightforward running. The small trail section on the north side may be runnable if cleared, but it’s easy to walk through quickly.
